WENDY'S UNIVERSE - Universe Rant Page

Welcome to the Universe Rants Page! Here is where I spend my time ranting and raving about things that bother me or are stressing me out (like attempting to groom my cat Tiger - who never likes to be groomed), or even just plain going on about things that piqued my curiousity that day. It is a diary of sorts, only it is open for all to see. If you would like to comment, then e-mail me, but rest assured I reserve the right to ignore all smart-alec comments.

PS: I'd just like to note that the idea for this section came from my wonderful friend "alaira" who has a similar section on her web page (only much more interesting). A link to her web page can be found on the Links page, so check it out!

PPS: I got an lj now: The Looking Glass - so I might not post here anymore... not that I was doing that much anyway... but you never know, so I will be keeping the page - if for nothing else, then as the page where people can see I have an lj...

Okay, got an lj... a while ago, actually, heh heh... here... warning: i am 22 years old, the goings-on of my life are held within - it is not all fluffy clouds and kittens... actually, come to mention it, there're no kittens, 'cuz i haven't mentioned my cats, yet... but you get the idea? drinking/dirty little deeds/romance/heartbreak/lotsa swearing... k?

Gwa Ha Ha... I finally got my Ruby's Triangle right! Ha! It's like a Rubik's Pyramorphix... a rubik's cube except in the shape of a pyramid. I have had the darned thing for years and finally got fed up enough that I went on the web and found the solution to it! Ha!

Okay... where to start... I finished with exams and am pretty sure I am going to graduate - yeah! Also, I passed the first stage in the selection process for the B.Ed. program and am going for my interview and writing skills test in 2 weeks! *sweating bullets, but smiling*

Secondly, I have been collecting Barbies for the past year or so - just one or two - but lately my collection has grown pretty rapidly. I now own 12 Barbies and have begun to look around at other types of dolls. I bought a Tyler Wentworth Sean O'Neil doll and Alex Fairchild Jadde doll, and am waiting on a Tyler Wentworth BW Signature Redhead doll. These are 16" dolls, fully articulated. They pose really great - well, the Tyler doll does, the Jadde doll does so long as she's standing - she kind of sucks in sitting positions - the restricting (and in the case of a kimono I bought for her, revealing in sitting positions) outfits don't help.

But what I really want is a C.P. Luts doll - a roughly 2 foot, ball-jointed doll from Korea - or a Super Dollfie 13 from Volks (in Japan), which is similar. My problem is that these dolls are hugely expensive. The luts doll (the cheaper option, if you can believe it) would probably end up costing me over a thousand dollars Canadian in the end with shipping and customs, wigs and clothes... I think I may be insane for wanting such an expensive doll. I would have to buy 2 eventually - hey, one would be lonely, o.k.? - and I could buy a really good computer for that much - which I also want/need. I don't know... but they are so... beautiful.

Anyway... the point is that since my obsession with dolls seems to be growing, I will be adding a new section to my web page to accomodate it soon. Pics of all the dolls in my collection - nice ones, hopefully - plus a wish list of dolls I want. You tell me if I'm insane for wanting one of these expensive ball-joint dolls...

So, I've missed a lot. First, I went to a folk concert at the West End Cultural Centre (here in Winnipeg) called Bluebird North which was really great! It had Emm Gryner, Andy Stochansky, Billy Klippert, Alan Frew (from Glass Tiger), Andy Kim (who wrote songs for the Archies), Shari Ulrich, and Blair Packham. All of whom are wonderful folk artists. They each took a turn singing a song and talking a little of their lives and craft - this cycle repeated about 3 or 4 times. It was great. Good song, good conversation...

Second, I went to a Manitoba Moose hockey game at the new MTS Centre - very nice place, by the way. I don't usually watch hockey... but I went with a friend who filled me in on the rules. Surprisingly, it was a lot of fun. It was a tight game that went into overtime and a shoot-out! We lost, but hey, it was still a great game! Plus! 2 words - Timbits Hockey. 5 y-olds in hockey outfits playing a mini-game during one of the breaks. Falling over, losing the puck, trying slapshots - oh, the hilarity! It was too cute for words.

Lastly, I have submitted my intent to graduate and will (hopefully, provided I don't flunk any classes) graduate with a B.A. in May. I have also submitted my application for Education and hopefully I'll get in and start earning my B.Ed. in September.

All in all, schoolwise - there is much stress. Work-wise, everything seems to be going along smoothly. I was offered a permanent position, so that is a great deal of goodness. It is still casual part-time, but that's okay. It's during the evening, so even when I start to work full-time, I may be able to keep it and earn a little extra cash on the side.

3 years from now, I may actually manage to move out of my parent's house. This, I feel, is a step that desperately needs to be taken. So, New Life Goal: Move Out. Achievable, yet highly desirable - a good goal.

So... it's been a while, yes? Miss me? I missed you... -_-;

Okay, so what have I been up to??? Well, I went to Ai-Kon at the U of M just the other week - that was pretty neat. I saw a series called "Yakitate!! Japan," which was about a boy who dreams of making a famous bread that will be reknowned throughout the world (kind of like how French bread is) and he will call it 'Japan!' It was funny ^_^ hee hee.

Also, I saw the anime "Planetes," which I had only ever read the manga of. That was cool, too. It was kind of whistful and sad, but also filled with hope.

And the last one I would like to mention is the movie "RaXephon", which had really nice art BUT MADE NO SENSE! Ahh! It was totally screwed up! Stay away! Stay away from RaXephon!

Hey all! So it is finals season and your friendly neighbourhood webmaster is having a bit of a freak-out. hee hee Oh boy... Gotta stay sane...

2 down and one to go

On a more wonderful note, the web page is finally done, if not to perfection, then to well enough to go on the web. So soon, all you surfers who have been lucky enough to find my site, will be able to check out this new updated, much cooler version. Doesn't that make you happy? Makes me happy.

See y'all soon!

Hidalgo was very very good folks! Sorry I haven't written in a while, but hey! time can really creep up on a girl. As I wrote to a friend afterwards, Hidalgo had plenty of beautiful horses, lots of action, damsels in distress, good guys, bad guys... basically everything you need for a good romantic action-adventure. I highly recommend it.

Work is dull as always... but it looks like I'll have a full-time summer job come April-ish, so... that's good - money, you see? At least, hopefully... I still have to go in for an interview (I've worked in the same place for the past 3 summers, but now the job is changing slightly and they're "re-evaluating" me to see if I'm up to the task for the new bits). I'm pretty sure I'll still get it, but interviews suck, so...

Anyhoo... life is alright, all things considered.

Yesterday I had a family dinner at my cousin's place. I'll just say this: it was... okay. But anyhoo, the part I actually wanted to discuss here happened after we finally came home, my Father was having "chest pains" - which of course, freaked out me and my Mom - and he went to the hospital. He had a really high blood pressure, so they kept him overnight for observation, but he's alright and he's coming home as I type this. Just a scare, it looks like - but I don't like scares, ya know?

But... as I hate to leave a rant that is too completely bleak... Today, we are going to see the movie Hildalgo, with that guy from LOTR - Aragon. It looks like it'll be extremely good - very Indiana Jones-ish. I'll give ya'll an update afterwards and tell you how it was.

Today I am skipping school. Why? Because I feel like it. What is the point, I ask you, of trudging through ice and snow in sucky weather (I live in Winnipeg, Canada) to take a one hour class, then trudge back? It is ridiculous. My schedule obviously needs more work, but oh well... I'm stuck with it until next year.

So what am I doing with my time? I am working on this web page, isn't it obvious? It is turning out all right if I do say so myself. I am very especially happy with the backgrounds. I like pretty backgrounds. I still have to make more banners so people can link to me, and hopefully create some more pics of Molly, my irresistable bunny-girl mascot (made her myself) to scatter around the page, but that will likely be an ongoing process.

So... one more week, maybe two, and we'll see this place up and running... 'Till then!
